Mock Class: "The 1956 Suez Crisis"

    Join Professor Fahmy for a class session that will explore the Suez Crisis of 1956 that erupted after the Egyptian president, Gamal Abdel Nasser, nationalized the Suez Canal Company. The class will discuss how Britain, France and Israel joined together in launching a military attack on Egypt that aimed at toppling Nasser. The class will also analyze how the "tripartite aggression," as this war came to be known in the Arab World, ended in failure, marking a crucial turning point in the history of the British Empire.
